"With basic theater makeup, it's very important to make sure that you use makeup that is made for theater use, because street makeup is made for a light, everyday kind of wear and theater makeup is heavily pigmented, so it's not washed out under all the lights that are on stage. So make sure that you use makeup that is made for the theater. And there's lots of different kinds. They typically fall under two categories--there's oil-based which we all know, is kind of like the cream-based kind, and then there's water-based and those have to actually be activated by water. So use whatever you're most comfortable with. People have their different preferences, whatever you're most comfortable with. There's lots of different brands of those as well--there is Mehron and Kryolan, that's a German-made makeup, and then Ben Nye is made in the United States--they all are really wonderful products. Just use what you're most comfortable with and works best for you."
