Summary: After finishing nail art, it's important to protect the design. Learn how to apply top coat nail polish to nail art designs in this free video from a professional nail technician.
"After you finish your dotted nail art; you're going to want to apply your top coat. I use a UV top coat, so as the polish does not change colors and does not turn the nail yellow itself. You also want to make sure that you have closed and sealed your other bottles up as tightly as possible so as the polish does not dry out in the bottle itself. You're going to take your top coat, and starting with the person's right hand pinky nail, which is your left side; you're going to just add a top coat to all ten nails. You want to make sure you cover the entire nail and just swipe along the free edge to give it a little bit of extra protection. You've allowed your nail art to dry at least two to three minutes. If you look at it and it doesn't appear to be dry yet you may want to give it a little bit longer, simply because if your nail art is not dry, when you go to put your top coat on, you are going to smudge your nail art. If that should happen, you are going to have to take all of the polish off and start all over again, which depending on the type of design can take quite a while. We're now working on her left hand, again, just going all the way down the top and across the free edge. After you finish the last thumb, you're going to just double check and make sure you haven't gotten any polish on or, nail art polish on the side of the nails that need to be cleaned up with acetone and your brush. And that is how you apply top coat to all ten nails."
