on 8/29/2008 Perming is so important, and I thought I could do one after this video, but although Ms Garcia said a little about rolling hair, she did not say much. I needed to know, how much hair on each rod? She mentioned parting hair the width of rod, but that's a lot of hair. Thanks .

"Hi, I’m Lillian Garcia with Salon in Scottsdale and on behalf of Expert Village.com I am here to demonstrate how to part your hair before giving yourself a home perm and this makes it for an easier way to put the rods on. Here is where you are going to need your plastic comb and your plastic hair clasps. I am going to turn around face the mirror and am going to part my hair in six different sections. What you are going to do is part the top part of your hair like this in a square like fashion. You are going to gather it up and you are going to have this square, the same width of the rods is what you are going to want to do and just kind of twist it out of the way and put one here. Then you are going to want to do a vertical parting again the same width of the rod, and twist that out of the way and have that ready for your rods. The third parting is going to be from a vertical part from the crown of your head down to the length of your neck and that is going to be your third parting and you twist it and get that out of the way. You are going to want to do the same thing on this side of the head. Vertical down this way, just like this side and the section right back here and then you are going to have your third section right down to the back of your head. That is where we will start rolling the perm. "
