" Hi, I’m Lillian with Salon de Scottsdale and on behalf of expertvillage.com I’m here to show you the next step in giving yourself a French manicure at home. We’ve just completed cleaning under the free edge and cleaning up the cuticles. After that step a very important step to remember to do is to buff your nails. This is a nail buffer it’ll cost you about 59 cents at your local beauty supply store and its finer than a nail file or an emery board and on the edge it has a sponge like texture that isn’t a file at all it’s just a sponge to shine the nail. So what you’re going to want to do with this is hold the buffer in one hand and do just that, just kind of file the nail. It removes the ridges from your nails and you want not to have ridges when you apply the polish because you want a smooth nail. So once you’ve buffed the nail and it looks kind of powdery and white and rough, then you get the edge of the buffer which is the sponge and you kind of just go over that as well after you’ve completed it. It makes for a nice smooth nail, you’re going to just continue doing the same thing on the rest of your fingernails."
