" Hi, I’m Lillian with Salon de Scottsdale and on behalf of expertvillage.com I will now show you the next step in giving yourself a French manicure. We’ve just completed pushing the cuticle back and as you can see all the excess skin is still on my fingernail. At this point I’ll reach for the cuticle nipper and you hold it in the palm of your hand like that and it just springs back and it will just trim the excess skin off the base of your nail and you don’t want to cut any skin that’s attached. You just want to move the excess skin that you’ve pushed back with the cuticle pusher just to remove the dead skin. I’ll continue doing that to each fingernail in my left hand and after all fingernails are complete I’ll put this down, pick up the cuticle pusher again. At the other end of the cuticle pusher there is a pointed side. Now with the pointed side you’re just going to want to clean under the fingernail which is referred to as the free edges. Usually there’s dead skin under there and just completely take anything that might be under there."
