" Hi, my name is Lillian with Salon de Scottsdale and on behalf of expertvillage.com I’m here to show you how to properly setup your workspace before giving yourself a French manicure. What I’ve done is I used a protective plastic on my table just to protect from any spillage you might on your wood or your glass on any surface you don’t want to ruin. I have my emery board and my implements, my cuticle nipper, my steel pusher cuticle pusher, I also have a wooden pusher it’s just a matter of preference which you like the steel one or the wood one. Then I also have the nail clipper, so what I do is I put in a bowl that has a little bit of cotton lined at the bottom and to sanitize my implements I just pour alcohol. The cotton keeps them moist throughout the whole manicure. I also have my nail buffer, my extra cotton balls to remove my old polish. I have my polishes setup in the order I’m going to use them. The base coat, the white for the tips, the skin color clear kind of skin color for the back of the tips and then the top coat. I also have a paper towel where we are going to wipe the excess white polish with this brush and we’ll go into that in our next step and then the acetone which we’ll also need to shape the white of the nails. Then I also have a bowl of soapy water and the soap could be shampoo, it could be detergent, anything just to soak your fingernails to soften the cuticles. That’s why you’re going to use the soapy water, you want to soften the cuticles after you’ve removed the polish and shaped your nails. So the next step is going to be removing the polish and shaping your nails and we’ll talk more about that in our next segment."
