" I’m Lillian with expertvillage.com, and we’ve now completed our cuticle nipping. All the free edge is cleaned underneath. The sides are free from any dead cuticles and so now we’re ready to buff. I’ve chosen a very fine nail buffer. You don’t need a coarse one for this just a fine one. A lot of people think that it’s not important to buff your nails but I’m going to tell you why it is important as I go along. So we’ll just pick up the fine grade buffer and just go across the top of our nail and over the free edge. The reason why it’s important to buff the nail is to remove the ridges that you get while working. It just makes a nice smooth surface and it’ll be nicer for the nail polish to get on there nice and smooth. Another reason why it so important to buff is because there’s yellowing in your nails. People wonder why their nails get yellowed. One of the reasons and probably the most reason it does is because the nail doesn’t breathe when you’ve left nail polish on you for a long period of time, it tends to just turn the nail yellow. So by buffing it helps remove some of the yellowing. It’s a good idea sometimes to just leave your nails free of nail polish at all and let the air breath to the nail."
