" I’m Lillian with expertvillage.com and as you could see, I’ve completely removed the old polish from my fingernails. Now I’m ready to file my nails. Or if your nails are too long and you want them shorter, this would be the time when you would trim them before you file them. I would like to see my nails grow a little bit longer and have them a little bit longer than what they are now, so instead of cutting my nails I’m going to just file them. If I was going to cut them I would pick up a nail clipper and cut them as short as I want. In this case, I’m going to use my coarse emory board. You could use coarse, medium or fine, mine need kind of a lot of shaping today so this is the reason why I’m using the coarse. I do like my nails shaped in a square shape. Oval is a shape. Some people still like having their nails to a point. The most modern way to shape your nails these days are the square shape. So I will start with this finger, which they’re kind of already shaped square because of my previous manicure two weeks ago. But what you’re going to want to do is just start making them flat on top, back and forth until they look flat. The free edge is flat and then just kind of toward the middle shape until you get that square effect. Now the corners might be sharp so you’re going to want to kind of go over the corners at the same time. Then I’m ready to do the next nail, same way I flatten the top, the tip of the nail to the square shape. Then from the base to the center do the sides until there’s a smooth feel to the nail. Continue on doing all of your nails in this manner."
