Manicures started about 5000 years ago in India using henna as decoration which is a form of mud that brings out the pigment in your skin's surface to make designs on hands. It is a treatment of the nails, hands or both that usually involves the shaping and painting of the nails as well as attention to cuticles and hangnails. It is a very soothing procedure that both men and women enjoy because there are several treatment options available for multiple personalities. Sometimes the manicurist will attach acrylic nails to the existing nail so that it can grow without worry of being broken and also to lengthen the look of the existing nail until it is able to grow out. This became highly popular in the 20th century and today is a multi-million dollar industry.
Why go pay a lot of money to get a manicure when you can spend almost no money and not have to leave the comfort of your own home. This free video clip series will take you step by step through doing your own manicure at home and guide you through the steps so you can even do it while watching. It's a great series that will save you money and time while you take your nail's health in your own hands!
" Hi, I’m Lillian and on behalf of expertvillage.com I’m here today to demonstrate a home manicure. First of all, we’re going to talk about the supplies you’re going to need. You could purchase all these supplies that I’m going to show you at a local convenience store or a beauty supply store that sales to the public. Everything that I have here will cost you probably under $20 but everything; almost everything is reusable, which in the long run will be cheaper than having it done professionally. First of all, you’re going to need an emory board and a nail buffer. You’re going to need some type of a cuticle pusher, whether it’s a metal one or a wooden one; its you’re preference. You’re going to need a cuticle nipper. Then the tweezer is for the decals and I’m also going to show you how to apply decals on your nails after the polish is on. You’re going to want to have some cuticle softener to soften the cuticles and we’ll talk about that a little bit later and also some cuticle cream for very, very dried nails. Some cotton to remove the old polish and your choice of coloring, nail paint, and then we’re going to need the top coat and the base coat. Some nail polish remover and if you’d like some nail polish dryer. I’m going to show you all this, all this is not totally necessary for every home manicure but it makes it convenient. Also, a finger bowl which you soak your fingernails in to soften the cuticles and this again is not necessary but makes it really handy. Okay so now we’re going to do a little setup here."
