Why take body measurements for models? According to J.P. Prewitt, famous hand model of Bulova fame, models are genetically constructed to become something great: “They’re in peak physical condition. They can gain entry to the most secure places in the world. And most important of all, models don’t think for themselves. They do as their told.” It seems only natural to want the fashion you design to be hanging on perfect limbs and torsos. Because of the popularity of shows like Project Runway, fashion design has become a fad readily consumed by our tweenagers and teenie-boppers.
In this free fashion video series designer Lauren Bradley teaches you how to measure a man for a full suit. Lauren covers the basic measurements for a dress shirt, a suit jacket, pants, vests, and top coats. She guides you through the seams and dimensions your tape measure should match up with and helps you envision the suit being worn. Lauren offers tips on jacket and sleeve length, what your tailor might want to know, and other things to keep in mind when renting suits or tuxedos.
"What I'm here to talk to you about is men's tailoring, and how to measure yourself for any tailoring need that you might have. Um, something might come up and lets say your scheduled to be a grooms man or your going to be a groom or your going to order a suit. Your going to need to know your specific measurements and how to measure and where to measure. So, I'm going to go over that step by step, um if you need someone to measure you, you are going to possibly be able to go to a dry cleaning place and at the dry cleaning place where they offer tailoring, you can find somewhere there to measure you or lets say you don't have of those in your neighborhood or basic vicinity, i show you step by step and you can have someone in your house, measure um for you, because it's going to be very hard for you to measure yourself, I think, um I'll be demonstrating, but your going to want to get someone to help you."

on 2/5/2009 Thank you so much for these videos. My husband needed my son's size to buy him a jacket and pants. We did the pants from some he owned but he does not own any jackets that fit. I was thinking of going to a men's store to have him measured when I thought about using Google to find something on the Internet. My query was "How to measure a man for a business suit" and I was surprised that the phrase was almost spot on with your video.
The nicest thing was my son listened to and watched the videos with me while I took the measurements, so now somewhere in his conscious/subconscious he learned the basic for measuring for mens clothing along with me. I'm going to summarize the measurements for him and email them to him and also print them to a business card he can keep in his wallet.
Again, thank you for taking the time and effort to make these videos. Not only were your
