"Hi! I'm Karen for Expert Village. I am going to use the fabric from the seam allowance that is in the back of the pants and that way I won't loose the use of my pockets. So I will just cut out a piece big enough to cover our hole. Our hole is pretty small so we are lucky. Just cut a piece out big enough to cover up that hole. Okay and now we are going to prepare our patch on the ironing board. To make our little patch we are going to need a small piece of iron on interfacing, a little piece of our stolen material, a good is handy and a little scissor. First we are going to fold the back and press, I'll move this out of the way. Fold back and press just a tiny bit on the edge of the fabric. Now the book is handy to put on top until it cools and that will give you a nice and crisp pressing. Just let that cool. Okay and then turn and press again. Now when the fabric is hot and you take the iron off, it wants to come out. But if you put a book on top of it and let it cool a minute, it will press down nice and tight and do all four sides. Now the iron on interfacing helps to hold down all the edges of our patch so cut the iron on interfacing just a tiny bit smaller than our patch so that it won't stick out beyond the edges; cut that. So if you cut it even with the patch and then go around and trim it, that usually works. There you go. I'm just trimming off a tiny bit and the iron on interfacing will hold the edges that we folded down in place. We get those off of the ironing board because they do have a glue, sort of a melting glue. If it gets stuck to the iron, it is hard to clean off. Okay so you want to fold whatever didn't press under well. Check to see the shiny side go down and hold it in place and press. This will help to hold those little edges in while you are sewing it. So there's our patch. "
