"Hi! This is Karen for Expert Village. Now I am going to show you how to make a handmade appliqué patch. This fleecy fabric is a great thing to make appliqué patches out of because you can cut it and use the raw edge and it doesn't fray. You can cut all kinds of shapes and apply them to the fabric like this with a simple stitch. For this garment, we have a stain at the neckline which is common with children. I cut out a little bear head or leopard head, whatever you want to call it and we are going to apply it there to cover up the stain. You just cut out any shape you want. You could use a heart shape or anything that you like and the fabric comes in many colors. Put your cut out and then pin it on like that and now I am going to show you how to sew on your handmade appliqué. First thread your needle with a embroidered floss or heavy thread. This is embroidery floss with 3 strands threaded and make a good knot. Then start with the knot in back of the fabric and just push up. I am going about a 1/4 inch in from the back and then back in this way and just go from the back and down. You can do it like this also going all the way around. Just continue this all the way around. "
