Series Summary

Spa treatments are popular for weekend getaways, day-long vacations, or two hour respites. Many spas offer a variety of services, including body wraps, massage, facials, manicures and pedicures, exfoliating scrubs, and more. Even the ancient Greeks created spas alongside natural hot springs where warm water was plentiful. Today, spas can pop up in any area, with many cities supporting dozens of spas and a veritable spa subculture. Although generally thought of as female destinations, many spas are reaching out to male clients with service packages geared towards relieving stress, grooming, muscle relaxing with massage, and detoxifying.

In this free spa video series, esthetician and spa employee Kate Weinberg teaches you all about salt glow treatments, what to expect and benefits. Kate tells you how to find the right spa for you, what to look for, and when you should avoid salt scrubs (like after shaving or waxing and before self-tanning). You will learn how salt glows help the skin, what products are used, and how to maintain the salt glow at home. Kate gives tips on products to keep your skin young and vibrant.

Video Transcript

"In this clip we are going to demonstrate what a salt glow treatment is and how to perform one. At Oasis Day Spas we use dead sea salts, and we combine it with grape seed oil. Also we add the aromatherapy of our clients choice, usually it is lavender because it's soothing. Your going to mix your salts and your oil. A little more oil. It's important that its not too oily otherwise its going to feel very greasy on the clients and you don't need as much oil as you think your going to. Often times you should definitely underestimate. First what we're going to do is drape our client makes sure shes fully covered and comfortable and shes not cold, we want to make sure she has a shower cap on because we will be using a veesey shower later."
