"Hi! I'm Kathy Edwards and this is my beautiful model Melanie Immanuel from Makeup by Kathy, and we're here on behalf of Expert Village. Now we're going to talk about foundation. You want to make sure to select a foundation that perfectly matches the color of your skin. We actually use a custom blended foundation. There are many other foundations that you can use, but you want to make sure and select one that actually is the same color as you skin tone. Then if you want a little more color you can actually add bronzers and that sort of thing at the end of the makeover. Just make sure that you select one that's the exact color of your skin so that it doesn't show a line and you want to make sure and apply it evenly all over the skin. A good way to do that is by using a good foundation brush. It will help the foundation to go on very evenly all over the skin. This is our foundation brush, and you're going to be holding it just like you're holding a paint brush because putting on foundation is actually just like painting your face. It is going to make the foundation as we said, go on very evenly, so you just want to hold it just like a brush, just like a paint brush. As we're applying her foundation, we're only going to take a small amount at a time. As you'll see when you use a foundation brush, it will actually make your foundation last a lot longer because you use very little. You will put it on starting at the forehead and working down. As we said, it's just like you're painting a picture. I'm going to ask Melanie if she will to close her eyes, and then go very lightly across her eyelid. You want to make sure and do that because when you do, it'll help your eye shadow to stay on longer and will help to even out any different colors that you might have on your eye lid. A lot of times you will have someone who has a little darker areas across their eye. Then you're going to go down to the cheek. As we said, you're just going to keep brushing downward and just evening out the color that you've put on. Now we're going to apply foundation to the other side of her face. We're going to do this starting at the forehead and working our way down. You'll notice that when you do this that when you use a foundation brush, you don't have to have very much on your brush. It really goes a long way. Therefore, it'll save on the amount of foundation that you use and will make your foundation last much longer. You want to make sure and do it in a downward motion when you're putting it on. You're going to be painting it on just like you're painting a picture. You want to make sure that you get everything covered really well. Just make sure that you don't have any uneven places. Just make sure that you apply it very evenly."
