Wearing Brooches: Fashion Accessories From the Jewelry Box

" Hi! My name is Kathy and we’re at My Lords and Ladies in Stratford, Ontario on behalf of expertvillage.com we’re going to talk today a little bit about brooches and alternative ways to use them. Of course everybody has the standard way just a nice brooch on the lapel of your coats, suit jacket, whatever it always works just coordinated to whatever else you’re wearing at the time but a few different ways to wear them would be on your hat, take any hat you want as long as you can put the pin through it, if you take the sticky part put it down through, suddenly your hat is turned into a little more evening wear this is good to make a fashion statement in anything you do, if you don’t want to be quiet so elegant pick something a little bit boply just go with the mood that you’re in. The same way as we use the hat there’s no reason we can’t use a purse as long as you push the tin through it, this one’s fabric that makes it very easy, once again we’re just going to put it right through of course we’re going to close it at the end but then basic little bag is turned into an evening bag, purple brooch, red, whatever you’re wearing pull that color into your accessory as well. Another thing to do with it is to use it as a stabilizer if you have a scarf and you want to do something a little different with it instead of just tying it and leaving it you want it in a specific place, you want it to be very drapery then you can do this wherever that knot is take the pin and use it stabilize it right to the clothes so that it doesn’t loose the shape that you particularly want it in. It doesn’t always have to be a big brooch if you want something small and fun that’s fine too, for example we have a little tiny stiletto shoe that can be fun on a little tiny bag. If you’re just using a small scarf and it’s just worn around the neck use that to stabilize it, a little mouse with rhinestones on its tail that’s a fun one as well. The other last thing that you can do is take your brooch but use them in alternative places, you have a suit jacket on perhaps you want to take something that dangles, attach it to the back of your shoulder and have it look there and it’s looking at you over the shoulder. You have your jeans on put it down at the bottom of your pant leg so that it looks like it’s coming out, you can use a series of brooches and using three at a times so they’re coming up the pant leg. Just be inventive work with it and have fun with it."
