How to Test Lipstick Color

"I'm Kelli on behalf of Expert Village I'm going to show you how to choose a red lipstick. When you are trying to determine what shade of lipstick you want to use a really great place to try a lipstick is on the inside of the wrist or the inside of the palm of the hand. This color, you can really see your nice natural undertones in the skin because this part of the skin isn't really faced with a lot of sunlight. Whereas, if you try it on the back of the hand, the back of the hand has a lot of sun exposure so this may alter the natural colorings in your skin. So, we're going to stripe on her, a gloss, because we have already determined that she is a warm undertone. So we are going to pick colors that have more of an orangey base. We're going to stripe a gloss, we're going to stripe a creamier lipstick and we are going to stripe a sheer lipstick. Then we'll be able to determine what kind of color or what kind of coverage she likes in her lips and also just to see how the different colors turn on her. I like the middle one, OK? So, we've decided we're going to go with the middle one. That one looks like it blends the best with her undertones, it's going to give her the nicest most natural red looking lips."
