"Hi, I am Kelli on behalf of Expert Village. I am going to teach you how to properly take care of your skin today. Next thing we will do is exfoliate the skin. Exfoliation, it depends on what kind of exfoliation you are using. This is a manual exfoliator, I will put a little on the back of my hand so you can kind of see. It is a grainy scrub, so when you massage it into the skin it is manually removing your surface layer of dead skin. If you are choosing one of these you want to make sure that you are picking a scrub that has more of a smooth grain to it. If you are picking anything too rough or too jagged of a grain, what it will do is cause tiny microscopic scratches on your skin and that can lead to problems down the road. So if you are choosing a manual scrub, you want to make sure you are keeping in mind what type of grain you are using. This is a chemical exfoliator, which is more of a serum form. Chemical exfoliators have your alpha hydroxy acids in there. There are a couple different kinds of alpha hydroxy acids, there is glycolic, which is fruit derived, malic acids which is derived from apples. There are citric acids which is derived from oranges, there is lactic acids which is derived from milk, tartaric acid is derived from grapes. So basically what all these ingredients will do is they go deeper down into the layers of the skin and help to dissolve damaged or old dead skin cells and bring them to the surface so they make your skin reproduce skin cells at a much quicker rate. Because what happens as we age the cellular renewal process will slow down and that's what leads to a lot of discoloration, uneven skin tone, more apparent fine lines and wrinkles. Just by using an alpha hydroxy acid it can really help speed up that process so your skin will look a lot younger. "
