"Hi, I am Kelli on behalf of Expert Village. I am going to teach you how to properly take care of your skin today. The next thing we are going to do now that we have cleansed is that we are going to tone the skin. We are going to take a little bit of our toner, put it on a cotton pad or you can use a cotton ball but you want to make sure you use 100% cotton on the skin. And we are just going to sweep this over the face. What a toner actually does for the skin is it balances the pH. A lot of cleansers will leave the pH of your skin in a more alkaline position which can be really harmful for your skin. Your skin will eventually go back to its regular pH but it really can stress out your skin leading to premature aging, a lot of dryness, a lot of dullness. So this will just balance the pH of the skin, it will remove any excess residue that may be missed from your cleanser or makeup remover. It helps to close the pore so it gives it a much smoother appearance to the pore. Helps to remove any surface flakes of any dead or dry skin. And helps to pull out any impurities out of the pore. The difference between a toner and an astringent is usually that a toner is usually alcohol free and an astringent is alcohol based. So based on your skin type someone with oilier skin will want to use more of an astringent, someone with dryer skin will want to use a toner. "
