Sewing the Bottom Hem of Pants

"I'm ready now to show you how to turn this under a quarter of an inch to bind that bottom hem. Here is our new hem length, here are our marks for the new cuff. And this is what's going to be underneath the fabric to bind the hem. So, just grab one of the legs and we're going to just flip it over just like this. No need to do it twice, just one time. If you want, you can measure it about a quarter of an inch. Maybe do it a little more about three eighths. That would be okay also. I'm going to just run a seam all the way around the little edge of the leg. Just gone to hold it. There we go. Luckily, my foot is exactly a quarter of an inch, so from the edge to the needle. I know that. I like to find marks on my sewing machine to guide me along. There we go. Okay. okay, there's one leg. And now we got to do both legs though. So, I'm going to go over to the next one. I'm going to clip these threads first. I like to keep my work nice and clean while I'm working. And let's get the next leg and do the same thing. Like I said, you don't have to be exactly a quarter of an inch. I'm a, I remember mine is a quarter of an inch from the edge to the needle. So, I don't have to measure again. Now, so this way these pants won't fray at the bottom and then we don't have to to worry about that chain-stitch coming loose. And the wearing these pants. Okay. I'm almost done. Let's get this out of the way. So, what I'm going to show you how to do next, is how to pin this in place. Because we need to make sure that we have a lot of pins in place, since we need it to be exact. I'm going to show you how to turn it under and pin everything down before we sew everything closed.
