"Hi! I'm Karen for Expert Village. Now we will show you a straight stitch hem for our pants. Our pants are prepared, folded under and folder up. You put the edge of that fold under the needle and you want to make sure the needle is positioned so that it is going to sew the amount that you have folded under. So if it is a 1/4 inch, you want to make sure you are within that 1/4 inch and you just do a straight stitch. This stitch length should be able 2 1/2 and make sure when you start, that you back up a few stitches and go forward and that will knot the threads. Then simply sew all the way around and you want to hold the fabric tight but don't pull hard and go all the way around with a straight stitch. When you end, you back up a bit to knot it and finish it. Remember to cut all threads nice and close so you have nothing dangling and you turn your pants right side out again and that is your straight stitch hem. You could press it again just to get it nice and flat. "
