"Hi! On behalf of expertvillage.com, my name is Jean Hurley from Siegels Day Spa in Cottonwood, Arizona, and we’re here today to show you some sports massage techniques. Working into the quads, we’re going to do some simple stretch, PNF stretching. Best way to do that, we’re going to have you open your leg. I’m going to push against your knee, and I want you to push back. We’re going to that in the ranges of 20%. I’m going to lift your leg slightly, and I want you to push against the hand, just 20% of you body. You should feel your quads engage, and relax. Just relax here. Again, we’re going to do that using 40%, and relax. What we’re doing is stretching, elongating the quad. Again, using 60%, and relax. There you go. That’s a nice stretch for the quad muscle. "

on 8/2/2008 You are actually stretching the hamstring, not the quad. Bringing the hip into a position of flexion SHORTENS the quad and lengthens the hamstring, the exact opposite of what you're trying to accomplish.
