"Hi! On behalf of expertvillage.com, my name is Jean Hurley from Siegels Day Spa in Cottonwood, Arizona, and we’re here today to talk about sports massage. I use the PNF technique, and basically, what we do is we turn the client. We don’t just let him rest while he’s getting massaged; the athlete helps us work through the stretching process of the muscles. In the arm, some good techniques to do are simple. We have the client; he’s actually going to flex towards me and we’re going to just keep stretching that muscle. Stretch like using 20 % of your power. You can see that the whole arm is engaged, and you’re going to relax. Just stretch out the other way, using 40 % of your power. Relax. Get him to relax a little bit. Using 60% of you power, you’re simply pushing against my arm. I’m stabilizing the elbow, and relax. From here, using 20% try to lift my arm, and relax. Rotate the elbow a little bit. Using 40 % of your power like you were going to throw a baseball. And relax. You see how all the muscles jump, they’re stretching, and they’re letting the oxygen the blood flow in using. Using 60% of the power. Alright, relax. What you feel the expansion and the tension of the muscles in the arm to achieve those points."
