Painting the face has been a religious and cultural tradition for thousands of years, and many people forget that makeup and sexual attractiveness are not always related. Wearing makeup for aesthetic reasons probably began with men, just like dresses, perfume, leggings, and jewelry. In different cultures different customs become popular. Think: it wasn’t so long ago that a male who manicured his eyebrows was creepy. We now have eyeliner-wearing guys all over the media and metropolitan areas of America. French men and women of the 16th and 17th centuries wore more makeup than stage actors do today, so let’s give our teenage face-painters some slack.

Nostalgia for the 1950s comes in all forms, one being a renewed interest in the look of famous pinup girls, like Marilyn Monroe and others. In this free video series, professional makeup artist Jenny Karl teaches you how to recreate the perfect pinup girl look. These videos cover applying foundation, blush, eyeshadow, and lip color. Jenny will also show you how to apply fake eyelashes and a beauty mark reminiscent of both Marilyn and Madonna. Bridal, special event, film, television, commercial, prints, ethnic, and men's makeup. I have basically done it all. I have about 12 years experience working all over the country. Today, I have a model here. A beautiful model whom I'm going to show how to do an old beautiful Hollywood look. That's something my clients ask me how to do. How do I do that old Hollywood inspired look? Like Marilyn Monroe, that old Hollywood actress inspired look. I'm going to just give you a little how to on the steps to take to get that look. It's pretty significant the steps. It's really easy once you know, but if you don't know it can be quite intimidating. We're going to start with the eyes, which is the hardest part. The whole look is about the eyes. Then we're going to end with the lips, which is that really great red lip that the look is inspired by actually.
