The history of cosmetics is as old as civilization itself. Archaeological evidence shows that makeup was used as far back as 6000 years ago by the ancient Egyptians. The Romans used mercury and flowers to create rouge, and ancient Greeks utilized similar tools in the theater. In Western culture, cosmetics are more popular than ever; because of the variety of looks that can be created, many people find that makeup is a fun, sexy way to accent facial features.

"Hi! This is Hollie with Celebrity Spa Services and on behalf of Expert Village I’m here to show you a little bit about special occasion makeup. In this section we’re going to talk about foundation cause the most important thing about doing your makeup is to create a nice canvas for you to paint on for your finished product. So we’re going to start with a little bit of concealer, what you do when you have a model you have some parts of the skin that may look a little blemished or discoloration you want to blend those out first before applying your main foundation color. Always finding a color that matches, we’re going to do just a little bit of highlight around these spots to kind of blend in anything that’s not where it should be and she has very little to worry about. Going out at night you might want to find that you have a little bit of dark circles on your eyes, doing a light cover up cream sometimes they call them eye brighteners or under eye creams and we’ll just apply a little bit of that and yellow tones actually take out blue tones when you’re doing makeup. This also moisturizes the face and we’re starting with a nice clean face, it is okay to use your fingers just make sure your hands are clean, I’m going to start by just using a sponge for the foundation and I highly recommend using a sponge I know a lot of foundation will say just go ahead and put it on with your fingers but you will always get better coverage using a sponge. Always follow around your jaw line, around the chin and cover the entire face…I’m going to dot it around blending, blending, blending you can never blend enough when you’re doing your makeup, get way up under the eyes and another trick to really hold your eye shadow on is to actually close your eyes and put some of that foundation right over the top of the lid, it’ll give a place for the shadow to stick to and it’ll last longer throughout the evening. One thing to super watch out for is along the foundation line is you want to bring that under your jaws so you’ll avoid a line of demarcation which is just basically a professional charm of saying a makeup mask and you don’t that so bring it down onto the neck and follow it around."
