"Whenever you're directing a pageant you?re also going to want to stage a closing number. For the closing number, you don't want it to be quite as energetic as the opening number because you're at the finale, you're at the end of the pageant, you're about to announce the winner, so you want it to be more subdued, relaxed, and more formal as well. The music that you use for the closing number should be classy and elegant; a minimum of one and one half minutes, and a maximum of three minutes. Don't go too long or the crowd might start stirring and get board. It is a good idea to use a farewell speech of the previous year's winner. If you don't have a previous winner just simply skip that part. For the closing number, one more thing that I want you to remember is that you can use accessories, and one thing that would be a good idea to use for an accessory is a shawl because you are wearing formal wear, so you want it to accent the classy feel of the end of the pageant and remind them that all these young women are ladies."
