"The last thing that you want to think about when preparing to direct a local pageant is to promote, promote, promote. If you don't have anyone attend the pageant, then the whole event is useless. So, you want to pick up your phone and call everyone you know. Call the newspaper; put an ad in the newspaper. Call the radio station so that you can possibly get an interview to talk about this exciting event that's going on in your neighborhood. Call the organization or the manager of a local celebrity say someone who is a well known singer in the community or someone who is a great public figure. Use them. Bring them into the pageant so that it attracts the public to come and attend the event. Finally, don't forget to do the manual labor of passing out flyers, either nice colored ones or you can make photocopies. And pass them out to everyone you know put posters up around the community and you should be set to have a good attendance at your local pageant. Very important is time management. You want to prepare big time for the pageant night. And one thing that you want to do to keep the show flowing is to make sure that each act is a lot of this certain time and each transition is a lot of this certain time. You have everything time out from beginning to end so that you know exactly how long it's going to take and you leave a little bit of lay way room just in case something unexpected happens. Make sure that all of your forms are signed and everything is ready and in place, that all of your prices are on the table to hand out so that you are not missing anything. All your snacks are on the table, all of your volunteers are on place. You don't want anything to be missing that night of the pageant so that you panic and you don't know where anything else and you have to stop whenever is going on at that time. It is important to be prepared, time management is essential."
