Series Summary

Let’s face it. Without judgment or degradation, we can admit that most teenage girls today where more makeup than the escorts of a century ago. But this doesn’t have to be bad. Painting the face has been a religious and cultural tradition for thousands of years, and many people forget that makeup and maturity don’t have to be related. Wearing makeup for aesthetic reasons probably began with men, just like dresses, perfume, leggings, and jewelry. In different cultures different customs become popular. Think: it wasn’t so long ago that a male who manicured his eyebrows was creepy. We now have eyeliner-wearing guys all over the media and metropolitan areas of America. French nobles of the 16th and 17th centuries wore more makeup than stage actors do today, so let’s give our face-painters some slack.

In this free cosmetic video series, Miss Michigan USA 2008, Elizabeth Crawford, shows you how to do makeup for television appearances. You will learn how to think differently about TV makeup than everyday makeup. Elizabeth gives you tips on eliminating shine, blemishes, and discoloration. You will also learn how to use brushes for eye shadow, lip color, brow color, and face shadow. Elizabeth has lots of tips for looking good on screen!

"O.k, I'm going to go ahead and start by the most important thing, which is cleansing your face. Taking off all of those oils, those excess oils that we get, the toxins and the makeup that you might currently have on your face. Which is very important that you want to start with the cleanest face that you can possibly have. Now, what I'm going to do is, I'm not going to use a sink to wash my face. I am going to go ahead and use both a toner, and also it's a skin rejuvenator that cleans your face, with this nice, little, it's like a wet pad. What you do is, you want to make sure that you, you get it nice and wet. Do it in a circular motion, and start in a larger part of your face, which for me is my cheeks. And, I work my way out, my nose, around my mouth. You want to get all the way up into near the corners of your ears. You want to do the same on both sides of the face. Around the lips, around the nose, under the eyes, make sure that you don't have any eye makeup left on. You want to make sure that, that's completely removed. If you have mascara, that's especially important. You don't want any sign of mascara because we are going to apply fake eyelashes, because like I said your eyes are very important when you're going to do anything on T.V. because you want to make sure that you're going to have them as large, and as bright as you can possibly get them. And, you get that effect by putting good mascara on and fresh."
