Series Summary

Formal wear is used to describe clothes suitable for elegant events such as weddings, high school proms or awards banquets. It is a statement of elegance to wear it these days. Since World War II, however, formal attire standards have declined. There was once a time when a tuxedo was part of a man's everyday attire. Now, reserved for only very special occasions, it has been replaced largely by suits and sport jackets but there will always be a need for tuxedos.

In this free video clip series you will learn all about tuxedos and about many of the choices that come along with either renting or buying one. Ties, pants, shirts, vests...they seem endless but with these tips you'll be able to pick out something that looks perfect on you. There is even a portion on looking for needed alterations in the garments. It's not always easy to spot what needs to be done to ensure a perfect fit but now you will be better prepared. Take your time, and remember what type of event this is for. Wearing white to a funeral is not the impression you want to make.

There are a number of different styles you can choose for your special day be at a wedding, a quincenera, your birthday party or 50th Anniversary, we have a number of different ideas that we can present to you. First of all we’ll kick off with a traditional look which is the classic bowtie and one button notch style jacket, we have the classic suit which is a lot of people like to choose rather than go for the real formal wear blending with a tie and we go on here to the show style jacket which is the collar is a rounded collar kind of a shaw style and then we have the traditional cutaway with the striped pants."
