Series Summary

Taking pride in one's appearance is not something that should be taken lightly. Oh yes, we know that we should fold clothes, even on occasion iron our "good" clothes, yet all too often we overlook the cornerstone of the male apparel. The tie. The concept of the power tie was not something chosen at random. The tie sets the mood of the entire male clothing ensemble. Even those that recognize this MVP of the male closet, all too often simply grab it from the rack and quickly toss on a full Windsor or a shell knot. A true gentleman will first carefully, even lovingly, iron this prized possession perfectly.

But, what happens when a well-ironed tie gets a stain? Do you just toss it out with the coffee filters, or do you assess the problem and do something about it? In this free video series, a dry cleaner will teach you how to keep your wardrobe running at full-strength with tips on getting stains out of ties. You'll learn how dry cleaners assess tie stains, how they remove stains from different types of ties, and how dry cleaning can be involved. With these tips and techniques, every tie in your closet will be spot-free!

Video Transcript

"I have these ties that are needed to be cleaned and the customers told me if there are any spots on them. He told me there's a spot here, so I will mark it with a spot. I have noticed that this tie is polyester, so this will be spotted differently than the other ties. I found this tie to be silk and I found this tie to be silk. And, so I'll take all the ties and with the spot that he pointed out, I will clip the, the ticket to the back making sure these all coincide with the day that this will be picked up and the number of items in the order. I have the number of items here and the customer's name has been put down and I then take this, and this will be stapled to this, denoting this customer has these ties. I will then put these on the tickets on the back. I do not want to in anyway to, to mark the fabrics on ties, because they're very, very special to most people. However, cleaning they do clean rather well. So, I would put each garment on here and then take them to the dry cleaning, I then put this ticket back on the top of the pile, so that we can then hang it up on the bag and for compiling the ties. I charge three dollars and twenty five cents to have ties cleaned. If they are a very good tie, it is certainly worth it. I mean people, ties are very subjective to people. You either like a tie or you hate a tie, you don't just go out and buy many ties. So, the thing is, if you're especially fond of a couple of ties, you'll probably bring them in a lot to have them cleaned. "
