on 11/13/2009 wow I am surprised that you can illustrate the figure first in pen without distorting the lines of the garment. That takes some skill. I always need to use a #2 pencil for my first layer of the sketch, then increase with a softer lead that gives more depth where needed and then finish with varying thicknesses of marker to for folds. Not to mention using my blending stick and plastic eraser to catch highlights and create soft shadow for plush fabrics.

I have a question, how many "heads" do you make your fashion illustrations?
