" Hi! My name is Dawn Shannon for Expert Village, owner of Intuition Salon and Spa I’m also a hairstylist and a colorist, you can visit us on the web at www.intuitionsalonandspa.com. We’ve now applied the toner and shampooed the hair and one of the tips that you want to do when you’re doing colored hair is you want to decide do I just want to condition the hair or do I want to use a product that will help lock in the color? Do I want to use a product that will add more deep conditioning and put them under the dryer? One thing you generally don’t want to do after you’ve colored someone’s hair is do an oil treatment as that can pull out the color. So being that Tanya’s hair is in very good shape and we want to have more body in her hair which the color actually will do, I’m going to go ahead and use a regular conditioner that’s not too strong and adds body but will also help lock in the color and help protect it. I’m going to leave it in about 3 minutes cause at the same time we don’t want to make her hair flat and we want to use one that has a little bit of protein in it to help strengthen and rebuild the hair without making it too flat and I’m going to apply this from scalp to ends, this also help and contribute to the shine in the hair. Again I’m going to take a towel and place under her neck so she’s comfortable, also you want to discuss with your client how they’re going to take care of their hair when they go home. You want to make sure they have a product that is going to help and protect to keep their color in, you want to make sure they’re not using products that are astringent and will pull out the color and destroy the work you’ve done. So the 3 minutes is passed and I’m now going to rinse her hair using cooler water as this will seal the cuticle the outer layer of the hair and help keep the shine in the hair. And that’s how you condition the hair."
