" Hello! My name is Denise Robinson, and on behalf of expertvillage.com I am here to talk about consignment shops and garage sales. In this segment we are going to talk about how to look for quality in the items that you buy. First if you buy a hat, you want to make sure that the shape of the hat, it is close to its original condition, check for any wear holes, this happens to be a straw hat so…and on the inside check for any soil that is around the hat, the head band. If it is beyond repair, you might not want to purchase it, and always smell to make sure that it is pleasing to your nose. As far as garments, you take a men’s suit and you want to hold it up and see if there is any wear holes anywhere in the garment, check for the underarms, make sure that they are not worn beyond recognition. And, even if the buttons are missing, that, you can probably replace them. And as far as, if you found a wedding gown, you want to look and make sure if it is beaded, that all the beads are in place, because that’s kind of hard to repair. And if it is white, half white, you want to hold it up against the light and check for any yellowing stains; and if you feel that it is beyond repair, or if the cleaners cannot get it out, you might not want to purchase it; or if you are handy with a sewing machine, maybe you can take off the bottom part and add a different piece of material. As far as sequins…now, there’s a trick to sequins. Because there are so many pieces, you just want to make sure that the strands of sequins is all there; if you start to see it to ravel, you might want to think about purchasing that item."
