"I'm Candi Cane Canncel with Expert Village. In this clip I'm going to show you how to cut out your pattern. The first thing you want to do is layout your fabric now remember in this case I'm using corduroy so you want to cut out your pattern pieces all going the same way. If you are just using a normal cotton or a linen that it doesn't have a right or wrong way then you can actually to save fabric. Lay your pattern going different ways to conserve the fabric. But in this case we're going to lay them all going the same way. The first thing you do is line up your pattern as close to the top as you can and as close to the sides this way you can conserve fabric. You take a piece of tailors chalk or you can use this handy chalk pen and you're actually going to trace out your fabric. So just start at the top come down making sure to get the top come around and then you do the other side. Try to keep it as close to the pattern pieces as possible once you have your first mark you are going to go and cut out the next one. Just keep going until you have as many panels as you're going to need to make your skirt. Remember when you are lining up your panels use the center seam as your green line so you can keep the panels really straight."
