"I'm Candi Cane Canncel with Expert Village. In this clip I'm going to show you to make your own pattern to make your flair skirt. So the first thing you start with is just a piece of paper. You can use a grocery bag, wrapping paper or just large drawing paper if you don't have standard pattern paper. So when you are going to create your pattern, the thing is to consider how many panels do you want. If you want the panels to be small or if you want them to be fairly large cause it is going to be a panel flair skirt. I like it to be somewhere in the middle so my panels are going to actually be 3 1/2 inches wide at the top, then flair out slightly to 5 1/2 inches at the bottom. The first thing you want to do is draw a center line; this will give you a reference point. Also when you are drawing your line, figure how long that you want you skirt. Mine is going to be fairly short so I'm going to make mine 16" long if you want your skirt to be longer say to hit the knee just measure your waist to your knee measurement and that will be how long your skirt is.
