The button is considered the workhorse of all shirts, jackets and general clothing. It does all the work and gets none of the glory. Well we at Expert Village are here to put an end to the unscrupulous degradation of the buttonhole. For without this small contraption the fanny flap on our PJ's would always be down, Our shirts would always be open in the wind and misjudging the buttoning process would be nary as amusing.

"Hi, I'm Candi Cane Cannel with Expert Village. I'm a clothing designer and sewing instructor based in Los Angeles. I've been sewing since I was 14 and I absolutely love sewing. I also love to teach sewing. I think it's such a great skill to have. I just want everyone to be able to sew and make fabulous things. One of the really important aspects of sewing is the little technical details things that you do to make the garment finish much better than say something that you would buy off the rack. One of the little tricks about sewing is buttonholes. There is so many different ways to do buttonholes. There is the automatic buttonhole that a lot of new machines are coming out, then there is just a standard buttonhole that a lot of your older vintage machines have. You can also do a buttonhole by hand and then there is the fancy buttonhole called wealth bound buttonhole. So that's what were going to do today is buttonholes and buttons, I'm going to show you how to create very very professional easy buttonholes. As well we're going to take a button and sew it on with the machine a lot of times you get a machine and you get all this feed that comes with it and you have not idea what they are for. I'm going to show you what to do with two of them the buttonhole foot and the button button."
