Video Transcript

"Hello this is Cherie Krieger on behalf of expertvillage.com. What we are going to show you today is sport massage concentrating on the lower extremities. First we are going to start with the lower leg and work into the upper leg and the hip areas. We are going to show techniques and position for the hands and body of the therapist while doing so. As we go along we will start with applying the lotion and then we would go into the actual technique. In applying the lotion you use long smooth strokes up and down the legs making sure to distribute this lotion evenly. Lotions that you need to use for athletic sports massage are the deeper sports and deep tissue lotions that allow much more traction then your oils. The first step that you want to do is friction on the legs to warm up the area that you are going to be working on. We are going to start with the calves today and then we work up to the thighs. This helps warm up the muscles before you start applying pressure and techniques to them. Next we are going to do spreading of the muscles. Working through and continuing to warm the muscles up."
