Today we are going to discuss the actual stones that are used within hot stone massage. These stones come in various sizes. I am showing you one of the larger ones here, one of the medium size here and one of the small ones here. These stones actually come from river beds. They have been rolled along and smoothed out until they are very nice and round on their edges and not sharp. The stones could come from any river. You can go out and gather your own, or there are nice packages that are available within different massage supply catalogues. Hot stones are prepped by using a hot stone or a large crock pot. Hot stones can be prepped either with a hot stone cooker like you see right here, which heats them up, or you can utilize a crock pot for heating up your stones. The stones are heated up in hot water. Scent can be added. You can add different herbal scents and put them in the water so that the stones smell nice. The stones need to be washed between each using to make sure that they are sanitary for each client.
