"The most important thing to learn in modeling is a half-turn. Every time you get to the end of a ramp, you've got to turn around and you need to look professional while you move. So I'm going to walk down to the end of my ramp using the catwalk. I'm going to point my right toe straight ahead, and as I point my right toe straight ahead I'm going to turn my body counterclockwise or to the left and move backwards in the catwalk the same way I did walking forward. What I'd like for you to do is practice that with me. This is something that requires a great deal of practice. You can watch yourself in the mirror, but it's really best to focus. Again, use your power, attitude, the face that we've learned, and also keep your focus because focusing on something gives you balance. It's also smart to focus on the camera because you'll need that when you start modeling professionally. So keep in mind the arms are still swinging up and back. As you turn, you're on the balls of your feet. You cannot turn on the heels of your feet. So carefully watch as one foot overlaps the other, the ball of the right foot hits the floor. You turn to the left and again, the lead foot, which is the left foot, turns you. If I point my right foot my body has to turn left in the half-turn. If I point my left foot in the half-turn, my body has to turn clockwise which is right because no matter how I turn in a half-turn, my body has to open up. If I were to point my right toe and try to turn right, look what happens -I pretzel. You can't do that. So what I'm going to do is point my right toe, turn left on the balls of my feet and head back the opposite direction using my right toe and closing in with the basic. I'm going to start again. This time I'm going to point my left toe forward, opening up to the right side or turning right, and head back again with my left foot in front, turning right, closing up to the basic with my right foot. This walk is the catwalk with a half-turn, and it's something every professional model has to know in order to walk a runway."
