"Hi! I'm Amelia and on behalf of expertvillage.com, I'll be talking to you about using thermal styling tools. Ceramic is not what you think it is. When most people think of ceramic, they think of the ashtray they made their mom in 3rd grade. It's not that. It's actually a metal oxide. If you take a aluminum and you super heat it and add oxygen, that's basically what you're going to get. It makes it conduct electricity super great. It also puts out a lot of negative ions, which again, helps that water to evaporate, cut down on frizz, and help the hair dry faster. Ceramic is something that you're definitely going to want to get whenever looking into any of these products. Curling irons have it. Flat irons have it. They all have the ceramic coating, so it's not something that's going to break like a bowl or something. It's a coating and it's actually metal. What happens if the ceramic starts to chip off? If it starts to chip off, you're really going to want to get rid of the tool and get a new one. Ceramic is the newest thing and I highly recommend if you have a tool that's old and it's the traditional metal tool, get rid of it. Go out and get yourself a new ceramic iron, flat iron, or blow dryer."
