"Something else that's very beneficial when you are receiving criticism, in order to make it constructive, is make sure that you understand the information. And this can be done in two ways. One, you can restate back to the person who's giving the criticism, now what I hear you saying, ABC. And that way you can clarify and make sure you've heard the criticism correctly. Or, you might go into some more questions about what the person is saying and feeling. Okay, so you didn't like my arguments, you didn't believe my arguments, what could I have done differently. Get them to expand on their criticism, because through that expansion, that's where you might pick up some of those kernels of valuable information that might help you do it differently the next time."
