"The next thing that we have to take a look at is why. We've already said that the critic feels this way about xyz. Well, what we have to take a look at is why. Let's say you were doing a speech, for your public speaking class, and you were giving a persuasive speech, and the person who is critiquing you says well, I just wasn't convinced by your arguments. Ok, he is entitled to feel that way. What you need to look at is why. Why was he not convinced by my arguments? Why does someone when they give you a criticism, feel that way? So in a sense, you want to start taking a look at what could my part of this be? Could I possibly not have made strong enough arguments? Could I have supported my arguments better? Then would that person, my critic, be convinced. So we're taking what they felt like, what they thought, what they saw and heard, and we're turning it into something constructive. We're reassessing our part based on what they say."
