"Now let's come to the Chinese word for "armchair" - "fu shou yi". In English the word is "armchair'. In Chinese, here it is not "arm", this character means "hand". "Shou" means "hand", and "fu", "put", and "yi" like in English, this is "chair". So for Chinese word the meaning is like "the chair where we put our hands on". This is "fu shou yi". And this radical in the character "fu", it means "hand". This is the hand radical. And the right part of this character is its pronunciation part. Because independently, this part, its pronunciation is "fu" and "fu" sounds very similar. So we use this part as its pronunciation part. "Shou" is hand. Here, the 2nd horizon tone is the shortest. And this is "chair" - "yi". Also you can see that it contains the wood radical here because most chairs are made of wood, are wood chairs. "Fu shou yi" = "armchair""
