"REBECCA SATO: Hi. I'm Rebecca with ExpertVillage.com, and we were just talking about how to deal with when you lose that passion and desire to write. And what we're currently talking about here was that this is you. This is your circle of influence where you get your ideas, where you get your energy, and these things that give us these ideas can also block our ideas. For example, if you're having a horrible relationship, problems with family or friends, those kinda things can drain your energy and maybe affecting your writing without you really even identifying it. And the purpose, of course, like I mentioned earlier, is not to blame other people but it's simply to identify things so you can correct it. Another thing is just to realize that not everybody is good at every kind of writing and not everybody likes every kind of writing. So be realistic about who you are and what you're good at and what you like to do, and that really makes a big difference. Because one thing I notice was that, for me, it was like I might absolutely love a certain project. So like this project right here, we'll just call it Project--I can't spell, here we go--Project X and I loved it and it was great. But then Project B down here--I'm just assigning random letters here--but Project B, I hate it and I don't know why because they're really similar. And right now, I'm not talking so much about novels and that type of writing, but it actually can apply to that, too. Because if you find yourself writing more in one genre and you're not feeling it, it might not be that you don't love writing anymore or you're not good at it anymore. It might be that you're not doing the right kind of writing and you need to find out more specifically kind of fine tune what is you love to do. Because when I first start out, I was kinda naive and I thought if you're a writer then that means you love to write anything. Well, that's, of course, not true. You might only like to write about certain topics or in certain styles. Okay. So let's go back to this example. So this project I love and this project I absolutely hate and they're very similar, so I can't figure out why I'm drawn to this one and not this one. Well, guess what? It could be a little tiny difference that's making me prefer one over the other. It could be something as simple as I'm writing about the exact same topics but for this assignment, I get to be playful. And for this assignment, I have to be very serious. Maybe as a person, as a human being, as an individual, that type of serious writing doesn't bring me joy. So you kinda have to when you start having these constant blocks, figure out where it's coming from and then work from there."
