"REBECCA SATO: Hi. I'm Rebecca with ExpertVillage.com. And we were talking about imagination and how that's kind of a really critical skill earlier. And what I'm going to tell you is that imagination is a muscle that you can exercise. Okay, not physically, literally. But really, it is something that the more you do, the better you get at. And one way I recommend developing imagination--this is just a technique that I use--is when you're out in public places and you see people, pick someone that has an interesting-looking face to you or interesting, something about them that intrigues you. Maybe it's the way they walk, maybe it's the look in their eye, and write a story in your mind around that person. It can be a short, little narrative, one, two minutes long. Write a story around that person that is something that you would want to read and listen to, just something intriguing and that leaves you wanting to know more about that person, and that's one little exercise. There's actually a lot of other exercises for developing your imagination and you can look some of those up online or there's great books about it. So do a little research and find something that works for you. And with that imagination, we're going to learn how to create really great characters, and we'll talk about that next."
