"REBECCA SATO: Hi. I'm Rebecca with ExpertVillage.com. And we were just talking about what qualifications it takes to become a writer or to be a writer. And I kind of lied a little bit because I said that there weren't any qualifications, that you can just decide that you're a writer. Well, that's true. I'm going to say there is one little qualification, and this is completely subjective and this is just my opinion. But I think to be a true writer, you have to love to write. So it's important to know why you love to write and why you're writing. It's just you kinda know for yourself so on days where you kinda feel like, "Is this worth it? Am I wasting my time? Am I going anywhere?" that you know who you are and what you stand for and what you're after. I think it's very important to know what it is that you want. I mean, it's the same thing as everything in life. If you have no idea where you're going, that's probably where you're going to go, nowhere. So that's something to think about. Another thing to think about is that a lot of times with writing, especially if we're talking about novels or manuscripts, you kinda have to realize that it is a competitive market and it may not be published. So there's a few things that you need to know before you get started and we'll talk about that next."
