"This is how you play The Exchange Game. You can use dice, which is what they usually recommend. But, we're actually going to use cards today. So, you have a child sit beside you and you say, "Pick a card, any card." They'll pick a card. "Pick one". So, you'll have them put one bead. Then you pick a card. "I will pick, nine (two...three...four...five...six... seven...eight...nine)." Next, they get to pick a card. "Pick seven (one...two...three...four...five...six...seven)." Now, I pick a card. "Five (one...two...three...four...five)." I would like to exchange those for a 10 bar. Line them up... and put this beside them. So you'll have, one...two...three...four...five...six...seven...eight...nine...ten. Put these away. Then you get a 10 bar. That's how you play, The Exchange Game. You can keep going for as long as you'd like. Once the children master this game, you can actually do The Exchange Game with the 10's bars up to the 100's bars, all the way up to the 1,000's as well. That's how you play The Exchange Game."
