"This is the bank game; you start by having the large or small decimal cards and a tray. I would say, "Please bring me two thousands", give the tray to the child and have them go to the shelf and get two 1000's. Just to speed things up, I'm going to put them on there today, one two. The child will come back carrying two 1000's. I will say, "I see you brought me two 1000's from the bank." Next I would say "can you bring me five 100?" They would take the tray, come back with five 100's, see. "I see you brought me five 100." One, two, three, four, five, five 100. "Can you bring me 30?" Give them the tray; they will bring back the tray with three on there. If they bring back something other than what you ask for, then I will say, I will take the card away and I will the appropriate card with whatever they've brought back for me. Then I count them out, "I see you brought me 30; 10, 20, 30, 30. "Can you bring me four?" Bring back the tray with four on it and then you count them out one at a time one, two, three, four, four. Now let's do the magic slide, "can you tell me what the number will be?" and they need to be able to look here and know that this is 2,534. Now let's see if you're right, 2,534. That's right and then when I'm done, I show them how to put each one away properly and that is how you play the bank game."
