Series Summary

Of course the main reason to learn Portuguese is to ensure that you can make your way around Portugal or Brazil during your vacation. But another important reason, very important to us music fans here at Expert Village, is to figure out the song lyrics to the great acts of the Tropicalia movement in late 60’s Brazil. Were Gilberto Gill and Caetano Veloso singing about overthrowing the repressive government or about wooing their ladyfriends? Definitely a bit of both, but which songs were which? Were Os Mutantes’ lyrics as crazy as their music? Did Gal Costa just want to dance or take your mind to the nether reaches of a psychedelic reawakening? Learn Portuguese and you will know….

In this series of world travel videos, our Portuguese language lesson expert tells you how to pronounce basic phrases which will help you to communicate on your travels to Portugal or Brazil. You will learn common greetings and introductory phrases as well as words for friendship and romance. Our expert will also tell you how to tell time and dates in Portuguese. But most important for you the traveler is the travel-related phrases that will come in handy on your trip, such as how to hail a cab, ask for directions and order in a restaurant.
