"Alright, the next thing you need to remember when you're using humor, especially a joke, but it could also be and anecdote a funny story, you must keep your eyes on your audience, when you're talking about the humor. I'm looking at you, I'm telling the joke. I'm looking at you, I'm telling the funny story about my Aunt Bernice. Whatever it is, keep your eye on the audience. What you must never, ever, ever, ever, do is read the punchline of a joke off the paper. See, I could say, "Hey where does spaghetti go to dance? A meatball." O.k., that works good, but I would never want to go, "Hey where does spaghetti go to dance? A meatball." O.k., that won't work. And so that's kind of like being spontaneous. Don't read your humor off your paper."
