"The next thing that we have to consider when we're talking about humor, and for some of you this is going to be hard, I'm talking about brevity and what brevity means is is brief. You do not want the humorous portion of the program to go on and on and on. It should actually occupy a very, very small amount of your speech like maybe a story here, maybe an anecdote there, maybe a joke, but that's it. Unless you're a stand-up, don't be making your speech, the whole thing funny and the reason is, what happens is the audience will start to question your lack of seriousness and your lack of knowledge and sincerity and capability to talk about this particular subject that you're presenting a speech on so pick and choose your humor and keep it limited."
